Rice: NYC 'perfect place' for 2012 Games

NEW YORK (AP) - Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice lauded New York as a global village of Olympic-sized dreams Tuesday, joining civic officials at a sendoff rally promoting the city's bid to land the 2012 Summer Games.
 
Olympic hopeful Moscow offers mixed bag

MOSCOW (AP) - The Russian capital offers much of what Athens had eight years ago when it was bidding for the Olympics _ dirty air, infuriating traffic, an overtaxed international airport and a history of terrorist attacks.
 
Madrid likes 2012 Olympic bid chances

MADRID, Spain (AP) - King Juan Carlos is said to be using all his influence. Former IOC chief Juan Antonio Samaranch is phoning friends for help. Queen Sofia will lead the Madrid delegation in Singapore on July 6. Memphis Grizzlies forward Pau Gasol will lead an array of Spanish sports stars endorsing the city's 2012 Olympic bid.
