The Mallorcan's speech is halting in his second language, which is why he accepted the runner-up trophy at the Nasdaq-100 Open in Spanish. And his serve is only average, one reason he failed to hold a big lead in the final against top-ranked Roger Federer.

Federer rallies to win Nasdaq 100 Open

KEY BISCAYNE, Fla. (AP) - Taking on stylish Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal showed up with the flashier outfit and the game to match _ for two sets, at least. Twice two points from defeat, the top-ranked Federer rallied and won the Nasdaq-100 Open by beating the 18-year-old Nadal 2-6, 6-7 (4), 7-6 (5), 6-3, 6-1 Sunday for his fifth title of the year.
