PARIS (AP) - Playing little like a two-time major champion, Maria Sharapova failed to put up much resistance Thursday at the French Open and lost 6-2, 6-1 to Ana Ivanovic, who was as steady as anyone making her Grand Slam semifinal debut could be.

Federer catches break at French Open

PARIS (AP) - Even Roger Federer can use some luck at a Grand Slam, and he caught a break thanks to his next opponent in the chase for that elusive French Open title. Guillermo Canas loomed as a formidable challenge for the top-ranked Federer in the semifinals Friday, but Canas lost in the quarterfinals to Nikolay Davydenko _ a much better matchup for Federer.
