Lopez knocks off Safin at Wimbledon
Jun 25 2005 2:52AM (CT)
WIMBLEDON, England (AP) - Marat Safin won two of the Grand Slam tournaments, and reached the semifinals at a third. None of those are played on grass. Wimbledon, however, is, and Safin said after last year's first-round loss that he hated the tournament because of it and wasn't so sure he'd return. But he did, and this time made it to the third round time before being beaten Friday by Feliciano Lopez 6-4, 7-6 (4), 6-3.
