CARLSBAD, Calif. (AP) - Defending champion Mary Pierce won her first match after a six-month layoff because of tendinitis in her right foot, holding off Sybille Bammer 6-1, 6-7 (7), 7-6 (4) on Wednesday in the second round of the Acura Classic.
 
Hewitt advances in Legg Mason
