Emergency vehicle plunges into N.J. river

JERSEY CITY, N.J. (AP) - U.S. Coast Guard and other law enforcement agencies were searching the Hackensack River Sunday night for two emergency workers whose vehicle plunged off the Hackensack River Bridge.

Holloway's mother tries to educate teens

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) - Beth Twitty did her homework before letting her daughter, Natalee Holloway, head to Aruba on her senior class trip: She went to planning meetings, and so did Holloway. They asked questions. They discussed underage drinking, chaperones and traveling with buddies. In spite of all of the precautions, Holloway vanished on May 30, the last night of her stay in Aruba.

PRINCEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Jessie Murphy rebuilt her wrecked home after Hurricane Floyd dumped rain that overran levees and inundated her historic hometown. Today she wonders if she should have bothered. And she worries that the victims of Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans will someday feel the same way.

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - The congregation of First Emmanuel Baptist Church drove from Baton Rouge, Houston and other points far and wide on Christmas, then walked past collapsed buildings and piles of storm wreckage to worship in their old church for the first time since Hurricane Katrina.
