Former Xbox expert joins broadband effort

SHANGHAI, China (AP) - A designer of Microsoft's Xbox game console is teaming up with two of China's biggest electronics makers to develop a system to deliver movies and video games on demand to millions of homes worldwide by broadband Internet.
 
Encarta encyclopedia tests edit system

SEATTLE (AP) - It happens all the time: You read an entry in an encyclopedia or other reputable source and think, "That's not right" or "They forgot this!" Microsoft Corp.'s Encarta encyclopedia is testing a system that lets everyone be an editor _ in theory at least.
 
Low-cost Windows launched in Brazil

SAO PAULO, Brazil (AP) - Microsoft Corp. launched a scaled-back version of its Windows operating system in Brazil on Wednesday, hoping to get more people using computers in Latin America's largest country while cutting down on rampant software piracy.
 
New game helps kids stay safe on Internet

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Having trouble navigating cyberspace, kids? Never fear _ George Jetson is here. Jetson, Kim Possible and other pop-culture characters are part of a new interactive game designed to help children understand and stay safe on the Internet. Called MySecureCyberspace, the game was the result of a collaboration between Carnegie Mellon University's Cylab and its Information Networking Institute.
