Intel says 'dual-core' PCs ready to ship

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) - After months of talking up the benefits of single chips with two computing engines instead of one, Intel Corp. said computer makers will start shipping PCs with its "dual-core" microprocessors on Monday.

NEW YORK (AP) - There's a new strategy in the spam battle: Call it containment. Filters for blocking junk e-mail from inboxes have improved to the point that doing much more will needlessly kill legitimate e-mail, said Carl Hutzler, America Online Inc.'s anti-spam coordinator. So e-mail gatekeepers are shifting gears.

TOKYO (AP) - A broadcasting company that has been targeted by Japanese Internet upstart Livedoor Co. in a hostile takeover battle may be delisted from Tokyo's stock exchange after the broadcaster's top three investors obtained more than a 90 percent equity stake, media said Friday.

NEW YORK (AP) - If a time traveler from a hundred years ago were to visit a home today, much of the technology would be completely alien. The television, cordless phone and computer would probably leave him flabbergasted. But on seeing a light bulb, he might say, "Ah! Here's something I recognize.
