Microsoft cleared in class-action lawsuit

RICHMOND, Va. (AP) - Businesses and consumers who purchased computers with Microsoft Corp. software preinstalled or bought the company's programs through a reseller can't sue for antitrust violations, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday.

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - A Massachusetts court has rejected a Microsoft Corp. request to force software rival Novell Inc. to hand over European Union correspondence that Microsoft claims it needs to defend itself against antitrust charges in Europe.
