Internet phones given 911 deadline

WASHINGTON (AP) - Internet phone providers were ordered Thursday to begin supplying reliable 911 emergency call service after regulators heard an anguished Florida woman describe how she was unable to summon help to save her dying infant daughter.

We roamed the sprawling halls of this year's Electronic Entertainment Expo and found these standouts from the hundreds of new games being previewed. Google allows users to add home page tools

(AP) - Google Inc. on Thursday introduced a new option that will enable visitors to display more information on the online search engine leader's bare-bones home page, a departure that pushes the company a step closer to operating an Internet portal in the mold of rivals Yahoo and MSN.com.

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Four years ago, mentioning NCsoft Corp. likely would have drawn blank stares from even the most dedicated U.S. video game player. At the time, the South Korean maker of massively multiplayer online games, in which tens of thousands of gamers can simultaneously inhabit virtual worlds, had smash hits in Asia including "Lineage." Then two brothers from Austin, Texas, got involved.
 
Netscape combines browser features

NEW YORK (AP) - The newest Netscape browser combines the best features from Microsoft Corp.'s Internet Explorer and the Mozilla Foundation's Firefox but no longer tries to commandeer all search traffic to its own engine.
