Microsoft signs another Linux deal

SEATTLE (AP) - Microsoft Corp. announced Wednesday that it will license instant messaging and digital media technology to a small desktop Linux distributor, Linspire Inc., adding to a growing number of deals meant to help the Windows operating system work more smoothly with open-source software.

ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) - A year from now, capturing a crisp, clear image of a candlelit birthday party could be a piece of cake _ even with a camera phone. Eastman Kodak Co. said Thursday it has developed a color-filter technology that at least doubles the sensitivity to light of the image sensor in every digital camera, enabling shutterbugs to take better pictures in poor light.

FBI pulls plug on several botnet hackers

WASHINGTON (AP) - More than 1 million computers _ possibly yours, too _ are used by hackers as remote-controlled robots to crash online systems, accept spam and steal users' personal information, the FBI said Wednesday. The government has no way to track down all the computers, both in the U.S. and elsewhere, that hackers have massed into centrally controlled collections known as botnets.
