Programming jobs losing luster in U.S.

STANFORD, Calif. (AP) - As an eager freshman in the fall of 2001, Andrew Mo's career trajectory seemed preordained: He'd learn C++ and Java languages while earning a computer science degree at Stanford University, then land a Silicon Valley technology job. The 22-year-old Shanghai native graduated this month with a major in computer science and a minor in economics. But he no longer plans to write code for a living, or even work at a tech company.

Google may expand into online payments

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Hoping to build upon the power of its Internet leading search engine, Google Inc. is believed to be developing an online payment system that would pose a stiff challenge to online auctioneer eBay Inc.'s industry-dominating PayPal service.

BEIJING (AP) - Tom Online Inc., a Chinese Internet and wireless services company, said Monday it will be the sole wireless distributor for Warner Brothers in China _ offering the U.S. movie studio's games and animation to Chinese cell-phone users.
