Microsoft working to fix browser flaw

SEATTLE (AP) - Microsoft Corp. was working Friday to come up with a fix for a flaw in its Internet Explorer browser that could let hackers gain remote access to computer systems through malicious Web sites.
 
File-sharing continues at colleges

LOS ANGELES (AP) - As a college freshman, Will Mount feasted on the free but mostly illegal music available through online file-sharing software such as Kazaa. Now a senior, Mount has seen his free music fix become legal, thanks to an initiative by American University in Washington, D.C., to dissuade students from using its computer network to illegally swap music online.

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Inside an eerie 10,000-square-foot labyrinthine dungeon, a wizard, rogue, cleric, bard, ranger, fighter and paladin are on a mission. For two hours, the team of seven will solve elaborate riddles and fight monsters in seven rooms as they try to capture a magic amulet that will save the fantasy city of Greyhawk.

MIAMI (AP) - Travelers arriving in the United States from abroad were stuck in long lines at airports nationwide when a virus shut down an U.S. Customs and Border Protection computer system for several hours, officials said.
 
Ariz. high school swaps books for laptops

VAIL, Ariz. (AP) - Students at Empire High School here started class this year with no textbooks _ but it wasn't because of a funding crisis. Instead, the school issued iBooks _ laptop computers by Apple Computer Inc. _ to each of its 340 students, becoming one of the first U.S. public schools to shun printed textbooks.
