PalmSource stock price skyrockets

SAN FRANCISCO (AP) - Shares of PalmSource Inc., maker of the Palm operating system for handheld computers, surged 78 percent on Friday on news that the Japanese software company Access Co. had agreed to pay $324 million for it.

TOKYO (AP) - Access Co., a Japanese information equipment software developer, said Friday that it will acquire PalmSource Inc., a U.S. mobile-device software company, for 35.8 billion yen, or $324 million.
