(AP) - Verizon Communications Inc. has flooded mailboxes, gone door to door and even handed out free ice cream as it seeks to sell its new FiOS television, telephone and high-speed Internet service. Now, the phone company is following Apple Computer Inc. and other high-tech companies that have opened stores in shopping malls to show off their offerings to consumers.
 
ID theft growing concern for MySpace users

LOS ANGELES (AP) - MySpace devotee Kary Rogers was expecting to see a gut-busting video when a friend from the popular online hangout messaged him a link. First, though, he was directed to a page where he was supposed to re-enter his password. Rogers realized that someone was trying to steal his information, and he didn't take the bait. At best, he would be spammed with junk e-mails; worse, the Web thief might steal his real-life identity.
 
Amazon.com has 'best ever' sales in 2006

SEATTLE (AP) - Amazon.com Inc.'s 2006 holiday season peaked with more than 4 million orders placed on Dec. 11, the Web retailer said Tuesday. That broke last year's single-day record of more than 3.6 million orders set on Dec. 12.
 
Research In Motion 3Q profit rises

NEW YORK (AP) - Shares of Research in Motion Ltd. fell nearly 3 percent Friday, a day after the BlackBerry maker said its fiscal third-quarter earnings rose 47 percent and it added 875,000 subscribers for the period.
