ATHENS, Greece (AP) - If you have ever wandered around a dusty Greek archaeological site in midsummer, clueless about what you are seeing or where you are going, help is finally at hand. Greece's Culture Ministry on Thursday unveiled a hand-held gadget for visitors that offers high-resolution video, detailed diagrams of sites such as ancient temples, position indicators, and imagery along with stereo sound.

Robot salamander may give evolution clues

WASHINGTON (AP) - The first animal to crawl onto land from the ocean probably looked a bit like today's salamander, and researchers have wondered how it was able to switch from swimming to walking. Now, European scientists have built a robot with a primitive electric nervous system that they say mimics that change in motion.

Inseminated elephant gives birth in Asia

BANGKOK, Thailand (AP) - Thai veterinarians announced Thursday that an artificially inseminated elephant has given birth to a bouncing baby boy _ a first in Asia that could be a crucial step in conserving the endangered species.
