Space shuttle ends long trip to launch pad

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - Space shuttle Discovery completed a 10 1/2-hour trip to the launch pad early Thursday after a brief delay caused by the discovery of a crack in the external fuel tank's foam insulation. NASA later said the crack was no reason for concern.

TOKYO (AP) - Japan's space agency mapped out an ambitious plan for manned flights to the moon by 2025 as a first step toward exploring the solar system, but decisions about going it alone or collaborating with other nations won't be made for another decade.
