Deep Impact spacecraft gets photo of comet

PASADENA, Calif. (AP) - NASA's Deep Impact spacecraft has photographed, for the first time, the target of its comet-smashing mission _ a big ball of dirty ice and rock that scientists hope may yield a glimpse of the frozen primordial ingredients of the solar system.
 
NASA delays post-Columbia flight again

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - NASA on Friday pushed back the first post-Columbia space shuttle flight by at least two months, after last-minute analyses suggested that ice falling off the fuel tank could prove as catastrophic as the foam that doomed the last mission two years ago.

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Gene Sparling was kayaking when he spotted a large black-and-white bird. It looked like an ivory-billed woodpecker, last spotted in North America 60 years ago. His eyes must be playing tricks, he thought. Maybe it was a common pileated woodpecker.
