Calif. scientists reopen Ice Age dig site

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Scientists went back to work Thursday at one of the world's richest Ice Age fossil sites, digging the tooth of a five-foot dire wolf and the toe of a sabertooth tiger from the sticky prehistoric asphalt near Wilshire Boulvard.

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - Bird rescuers believe dozens of dead and sickly baby terns washed up suddenly on beaches here after something scared them out of their nests on an abandoned barge and into the water, where they couldn't swim.

LUXOR, Egypt (AP) - Archaeologists hoped the first tomb discovered in the Valley of the Kings in 80 years would hold the mummy of King Tut's mother. They opened the last of eight sarcophagi Wednesday, revealing no mummies but finding something almost as valuable: embalming materials and ancient woven flowers.
 
Group to start Afghan wildlife reserves
