ST. LOUIS (AP) - It's no laughing matter: a new study suggests older adults have a harder time getting jokes as they age. The research indicates that because older adults may have greater difficulty with cognitive flexibility, abstract reasoning and short-term memory, they also have greater difficulty with tests of humor comprehension.

Sheep trained to clean vineyard weeds

HOPLAND, Calif. (AP) - Call them mutton mowers. University researchers are training sheep to clean up vineyard weeds but stay off the grapes. Enthusiastic and unpicky eaters, sheep are already being used in some vineyards as a green alternative to tractors. They don't use gasoline and keep down weeds _ a necessary task to deter pests and keep vines healthy _ sans herbicides.

The sky is a brilliant blue, and the waters lapping at the stone wall just a few feet away are clear and calm.
