Space shuttle Discovery lands safely

CAPE CANAVERAL, Fla. (AP) - The shuttle Discovery and its crew of six returned safely home Monday, rejuvenating a space program that until now had been vexed by the same chronic foam problem that brought down Columbia three years ago.

Va. professor develops vaccine for pigs

BLACKSBURG, Va. (AP) - A Virginia Tech professor has developed a vaccine for a virus that has been blamed for immune system problems in pigs. Fort Dodge Animal Health, a manufacturer and distributor of animal health products, recently received full licensure for the vaccine _ Suvaxyn PCV2 One Dose. It went on the market the last week of June.

Scanner helps Ind. police find stolen cars

INDIANAPOLIS (AP) - Lawrence police officers are using a new scanning device that can quickly identify stolen cars. The system has helped the department recover 21 stolen cars in seven weeks. It uses two cameras attached to a squad car that scans license plates and compares them in less than a second to a nationwide FBI database of reported stolen vehicles.
