UK, Calif. to strike global warming deal

LONG BEACH, Calif. (AP) - British Prime Minister Tony Blair and California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger announced an agreement Monday to bypass the Bush administration and work together to explore ways to fight global warming.
 
Clean penguins return to sea after spill

SAN CLEMENTE DEL TUYU, Argentina (AP) - Dozens of freshly cleaned Magellanic penguins waddled into the ocean Monday to the applause of onlookers, the first batch of close to 200 goo-covered birds that were rescued and washed after an oil spill.
 
Oceans contain more microorganisms

WASHINGTON (AP) - The world's oceans contain many more types of microorganisms than had been thought, scientists report. "Microbiologists have formally described 5,000 microbial species. This study shows we have barely scratched the surface," said Mitchell Sogin of the Marine Biological Laboratory at Woods Hole, Mass.
