Astronaut to employ ingenuity in repair

SPACE CENTER, Houston (AP) - Employing the kind of NASA ingenuity seen during Apollo 13, an astronaut prepped for an emergency repair job on Discovery's exterior Wednesday with forceps, scissors and a hacksaw fashioned out of a blade and a little duct tape.
 
Ivory bill's doubters convinced by tapes

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) - Recordings of the ivory-billed woodpecker's distinctive double-rap sounds have convinced doubting researchers that the large bird once thought extinct is still living in an east Arkansas swamp.
 
Researcher: Bird emits mosquito repellent

FAIRBANKS, Alaska (AP) - A bird species found in some parts of Western Alaska is believed to emit a natural mosquito repellent with properties similar to DEET, the key ingredient in many commercial repellents.
