Giant ocean waves more common than thought

WASHINGTON (AP) - The sea roiled as Hurricane Ivan roared south of the Gulf Coast last year, its winds churning up wave after wave, including a 91-foot giant that may be among the biggest storm wave yet measured. Few people get to witness the power of such a storm at sea and live to tell of it, but a new array of instruments on the ocean floor was able to measure the wave passing overhead.
