Asians, Americans show perceptual divide

WASHINGTON (AP) - Asians and North Americans really do see the world differently. Shown a photograph, North American students of European background paid more attention to the object in the foreground of a scene, while students from China spent more time studying the background and taking in the whole scene, according to University of Michigan researchers.

Researchers fuse skin and stem cells

WASHINGTON (AP) - Harvard scientists announced they've discovered a way to fuse adult skin cells with embryonic stem cells, a promising and dramatic breakthrough that could lead to the creation of useful stem cells without first having to create and destroy human embryos.

Georgians claim to unearth ancient skull

TBILISI, Georgia (AP) - Archaeologists in the former Soviet republic of Georgia have unearthed a skull they say is 1.8 million years old _ part of a find that holds the oldest traces of humankind's closest ancestors ever found in Europe.
