Shuttle brings addition to space station

HOUSTON (AP) - Using their ship's robotic arm, astronauts aboard the space shuttle Atlantis handed over the first big addition to the international space station in more than 3 1/2 years Monday and now will conduct three spacewalks to install the giant new section.
 
Scientists say Florida earthquake rare

TAMPA, Fla. (AP) - Floridians can go back to worrying about hurricanes. Scientists said Sunday's magnitude 6.0 earthquake that rattled windows from southwest Florida to Louisiana is rare _ the largest earthquake in the eastern Gulf of Mexico in 30 years. A seismic jolt powerful enough to do damage or unleash a tsunami on the U.S. Gulf Coast is unlikely.
 
Study ties warming to intense hurricanes

WASHINGTON (AP) - Most of the increase in ocean temperature that feeds more intense hurricanes is a result of human-induced global warming, says a study that one researcher says "closes the loop" between climate change and powerful storms like Katrina.
 
Kan. students get hands-on science skills
