Pesticide found in mutated fish, Potomac

CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - Several chemicals, including one banned in the U.S., have been found in the Potomac River and its tributaries where pollution is suspected of causing some species of male fish to develop female sexual traits, scientists said.

Global fund to help buy malaria drugs

AMSTERDAM, Netherlands (AP) - A global fund is being created to subsidize the purchase of a new generation of anti-malaria drugs for Africa, where the mosquito-borne disease kills 1 million people a year, mostly children under 5, a World Bank-sponsored forum announced Friday.

Gulf states receive health care grants

WASHINGTON (AP) - Three Gulf Coast states whose health care networks were crippled by Hurricane Katrina will be eligible to receive $175 million in grants, Health and Human Services Secretary Mike Leavitt announced Thursday.
