Calif. settles with Xenadrine maker for $1M

SACRAMENTO, Calif. (AP) - California and 10 local prosecutors have reached a $1 million settlement with diet-pill maker Nutraquest Inc., which was accused of using deceptive techniques to sell weight-loss products that contained ephedra.

Study: Blacks hear better than whites

ATLANTA (AP) - Black adults hear better than white adults, a government study found. The study also found that women hear better than men, and that overall, hearing in the United States is about the same as it was 35 years ago, despite the advent of ear-blasting devices such as the Walkman and the iPod.
