Study shows benefits of kids' playtime

LONDON (AP) - Doctors may soon have a prescription for health that even kids will like: more playtime. European and international health experts say a new study makes the most convincing case yet for the benefits of children being active. They say the research may lead to new guidelines saying youngsters between ages 5 and 16 need to be active up to 1 1/2 hours a day.

Scientists skeptical of banking baby teeth

AUSTIN, Texas (AP) - There's a new high-tech version of the tooth fairy, but some scientists aren't ready to bite. Austin-based startup company BioEden Inc. has opened the nation's first baby tooth bank, which harvests and freezes stem cells from a tooth's pulp. The hope is that the cells may someday be useful to treat disease or heal paralyzing spinal cord injuries.
 
42nd Indonesian bird flu death confirmed

JAKARTA, Indonesia (AP) - Indonesia recorded its 42nd human bird flu death on Thursday, bringing the sprawling nation even with neighboring Vietnam as the two worst-hit countries by the virus, a senior health ministry official said Thursday.
 
Gates Foundation funds AIDS vaccine work
