2 in Pa. contract Legionnaires disease

PHILADELPHIA (AP) - Two men tested positive for Legionnaires disease after they attended the Pennsylvania American Legion's annual convention in Montgomery County, not far from where 34 people died of the disease at a similar event in 1976, hotel officials said Thursday.

Preliminary research published this week in The Lancet medical journal outlines how scientists used an anti-convulsant drug to awaken dormant HIV hiding in the body, where it is temporarily invisible but still dangerous.

NEW YORK (AP) - New York City wants restaurants to narrow their list of ingredients _ and maybe some waistlines _ by cutting out trans fats. The Department of Health and Mental Hygiene said the voluntary change could also help fight the city's biggest killer, heart disease.
 
Feds aren't subsidizing recommended foods

WASHINGTON (AP) - The government says half your diet should be fruits and vegetables, but it doesn't subsidize the farmers who grow them. Instead, half of all federal agriculture subsidies go to grain farmers, whose crops feed animals for meat, milk and eggs and become cheap ingredients in processed food.
