Thousands sign up for Teflon health test

BELPRE, Ohio (AP) - Ted Johnson worked 35 years for a DuPont Co. chemical plant and believed what company officials said about the safety of the operation. Now, he's not so sure. Johnson and his wife, Barbara, are among more than 43,000 people in the mid-Ohio Valley who have signed up for tests to find out if a chemical used to make Teflon might harm their health.

Accidents, mold pose risk to storm victims

NEW ORLEANS (AP) - Donald Roberts Sr. was prying off molding from a wall in his hurricane-ravaged home when a piece broke loose and hit him, embedding a nail in his arm. He pulled out the nail and headed to a temporary emergency hospital downtown for a checkup and a tetanus shot.
