Scientists link weight to gut bacteria

WASHINGTON (AP) - Maybe it's germs that are making you fat. Researchers found a strong connection between obesity and the levels of certain types of bacteria in the gut. That could mean that someday there will be novel new ways of treating obesity that go beyond the standard advice of diet and exercise.

TUCSON, Ariz. (AP) - A preliminary study of the active ingredient in psychedelic mushrooms has found it is effective in relieving the symptoms of people suffering from severe obsessive compulsive disorder, a University of Arizona psychiatrist reports.

Study connects echinacea, tract bacteria

FAYETTEVILLE, Ark. (AP) - The herbal supplement echinacea, often used to prevent the common cold, may also be connected to an increase in bacteria in the gastrointestinal tract, according to a recently published study by a University of Arkansas professor and graduate student.
