EAST CHICAGO, Ind. (AP) - City officials have turned off a streetlight that drew more than 250 people to see a shadow that some say resembles the image of Jesus Christ.
 
Va. police remove 246 cats from two homes

FAIRFAX, Va. (AP) - Animal control officers have removed 187 cats from a house in Mount Vernon and 59 cats and one dog from a home in Falls Church, authorities said Monday.
 
NMSU develops ornamental miniature chili

LAS CRUCES, N.M. (AP) - Imagine a Halloween chili, a miniature ornamental type that changes from black to orange. The head of New Mexico State University's chili-breeding program, Paul Bosland, said the small black and orange chilies are among a dozen ornamental types developed by university researcher that can be used for ristras or for potted holiday plants.
 
Man's ear bitten off in fight over dog
