Woman plays 1,100 chess games in 17 hours

PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. (AP) - All hail the queen of chess. Former women's world champ Susan Polgar is believed to have broken four international chess records this week after playing more than 1,100 games over 17 hours.

Ohio cyclist ticketed after falling

TOLEDO, Ohio (AP) - A northwest Ohio man's fall off his bicycle left him with a bruised leg, a big hospital bill and a ticket from police. Police fined Melvin Surprise III, of Toledo, because he was riding his bike on a sidewalk when he was struck by a pickup truck pulling out of a parking lot.

NEW CASTLE, Pa. (AP) - Police charged a 19-year-old woman with selling sexual favors to two elderly men for $4 and $6 each. Stacy L. Kendall, 71-year-old William R. Claypool and 83-year-old Carmen A. Nocera were arrested just outside New Castle on Friday.

Ill. nudist to be buried fully clothed

PEKIN, Illinois (AP) - Even in death, Robert Norton's nakedness is a no-no. Norton, 82, spent four decades in and out of court fighting repeated arrests for gardening and wandering his yard in the nude. He said he wanted to be buried without any clothes, but his family is sending him to eternity wearing gray slacks and a matching shirt.

Worm farming gains recognition in Oregon

OREGON CITY, Ore. (AP) - Worm rancher Dan Holcombe is finally getting some respect, along with his squiggly, slithering livestock. Worm wrangling is right up there with cattle ranching and wheat farming, at least in Oregon. A bill signed last week by Oregon's governor will add worms to the state's list of tax-exempt farm products.
