Colombian soldiers to appeal convictions

MELGAR, Colombia (AP) - Lawyers vowed Friday to appeal after dozens of soldiers were sentenced to prison for failing to turn in $16 million in rebel cash they found while on jungle patrol in 2003.

Man tries to attack cop with tomahawk

DEPOSIT, N.Y. (AP) - Police subdued a man with a Taser gun after he tried to attack an officer with a Tomahawk. Jeffrey Moore, 37, of Deposit, was immediately dropped to the ground before he could harm the officer when two jolts of electricity passed through his body.

Experts baffled by water-gurgling tree
