MUNCIE, Ind. (AP) - A landlord said he wanted people to see the pain of his property tax bill when he hauled $12,656.07 in coins and $1 bills to the county treasurer's office.

LONGVIEW, Wash. (AP) - Yep. It was the brakes all right. A motorist whose brakes were "acting strange" and wanted them checked drove through the front window of a tire store when the brakes failed as he was pulling into a parking slip, Longview police Officer Erik Hendrickson said.

Monkey apparently picks lock, escapes

TUPELO, Mississippi (AP) - A monkey that freed himself two weeks ago from a Mississippi zoo has escaped again, zoo officials said. Tupelo Buffalo Park and Zoo Manager Kirk Nemecheck and other employees noticed the white-faced capuchin's cage open and lock on the ground around 8:30 a.m. Monday.
 
Mom sentenced for posing as son's wife

EVANSVILLE, Ind. (AP) - A woman was sentenced to 30 days in jail for claiming in court that she was her son's wife. Christopher Crowe, 25, was in court recently to plead guilty to four felony counts including residential entry and domestic battery.
 
Cremated human remains found in mailbox

POTTSTOWN, Pa. (AP) - Cremated human remains were found Tuesday inside a package placed in a mail collection box, police said. "In my 19 years of police work, never has something like this occurred," Pottstown police Capt. F. Richard Drumheller said.
 
Boy, 10, gets locked in store's gun safe

WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Gun safes are supposed to keep children out, but a 10-year-old boy managed to lock himself in. Daniel Jancura and two other boys were playing with a safe on display at a Sam's Club on Monday when he became trapped inside. It was at least 15 minutes before firefighters and store employees could get him out.
