NEW YORK (AP) - Sara Lee Corp. raised its coffee prices Tuesday because of increasing prices on the commodities markets.
Sara Lee spokeswoman Dawn Mann Charles said New York prices for coffee beans have risen more than 30 percent since December, due to the small size of this year's expected Brazilian crop, along with higher demand by roasters who are replenishing low inventories.
The Chicago-based company's Retail Coffee Division raised prices on all roasted, ground products under the Hills Brothers, Chock Full o'Nuts and MJB brands by 28 cents per 13-ounce can. That follows a December 2004 price increase of 8 cents per 13 ounces on those brands.
