PEORIA, Ariz. (AP) - Sean Burroughs is getting demoted — in the batting order, that is. And he couldn't be happier. Now that the San Diego Padres have a true leadoff hitter in Dave Roberts, Burroughs has been dropped all the way down to the eighth spot, where he figures he'll be a lot more comfortable.
"I love it," Burroughs said.
Burroughs didn't do badly while batting leadoff for most of last season, hitting .296 and scoring 63 runs for a team that stayed in contention until late in the season.
