 CLEVELAND (AP) - Tyrone Sally decided a game of high-difficulty 3s with the easiest shot of all — the uncontested dunk. Sally blocked Nate Funk's 3-point attempt, then raced downcourt for a fast-break dunk with 2.9 seconds to go Thursday night, leading West Virginia to a 63-61 first-round victory over Creighton.
West Virginia (22-10) will play second-seeded Wake Forest on Saturday. The Demon Deacons beat Chattanooga 70-54 to advance to the second round in the Albuquerque Regional.
The Mountaineers knocked off Providence, Boston College and Villanova in the Big East tournament before losing to Syracuse in the title game, earning the Mountaineers a No. 7 seed. After plowing through some of the nation's best teams, the Mountaineers had trouble with one of its peskiest.
