Sanofi-Aventis Wins Plavix Patent Case

OTTAWA (AP) - A Canadian court has ruled Canada's largest generic drug manufacturer can't introduce a generic version of Sanofi-Aventis SA's blockbuster drug Plavix in Canada.

Canada's Federal Court issued the ruling late Monday, preventing Apotex Inc. from selling a version of the top-selling blood-thinning drug.

Apotex spokesman Elie Betito said confirmed the ruling and said the company planned to appeal.
