LAS VEGAS (AP) - A former Michael Jackson bodyguard who may be a witness in the pop singer's trial pleaded not guilty Wednesday to charges he committed a series of armed robberies in the Las Vegas area.
Christopher Eric Carter, 25, is charged with kidnapping, burglary, robbery, coercion and possession of a firearm by an ex-felon. He also is being investigated for a series of bank robberies, said Deputy Clark County District Attorney Susan Krisko.
Santa Barbara County, Calif., District Attorney Tom Sneddon has asked Nevada authorities to produce Carter at Jackson's trial next month. Prosecutors expect Carter, a bodyguard for Jackson from August 2002 to August 2003, to testify that he once found Jackson's accuser drunk and that the boy said Jackson encouraged him to drink alcohol.
