InBev Closing Toronto's Labatt's Brewery

BRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) - InBev SA, the world's biggest beer producer, said Thursday it was closing the Toronto brewery of its Canadian subsidiary Labatt's by the end of this year, putting 265 people out of work.

It is Labatt's second brewery closing after it decided to shut down its operations in the Vancouver suburb of New Westminister last year, cutting 180 jobs there.

InBev said the decision to shut down the Toronto site was made because it was producing too much for the Canadian market, which it said was costing it too much money.
