QUITO, Ecuador (AP) - The president of Ecuador's Supreme Court annulled corruption charges Thursday against former President Abdala Bucaram, paving the way for his possible return from political asylum in Panama.
Judge Guillermo Castro also erased similar allegations against former Vice President Alberto Dahik, who fled to Costa Rica in 1995, and ex-President Gustavo Noboa, who fled to the Dominican Republic in 2003.
"I saw the need to declare that in the cases against Bucaram, Dahik and Noboa their individual guarantees, their human rights ... were harmed," Castro wrote in a statement faxed to The Associated Press.
