NEWARK, N.J. (AP) - A settlement between horsemen and the state racing commission will keep the 2007 Breeders' Cup in New Jersey, officials said Friday.
The deal followed 14 months of negotiations that stemmed from the commission's three-year legal effort to compel the New Jersey Thoroughbred Horseman's Association to account for some of the money it receives, racing commission executive director Frank Zanzuccki said.
At issue were portions of purses that are divided among tracks, bettors, the commission and horse groups.
