NEW YORK (AP) - The U.S. dollar rose Friday against the euro and other currencies amid mixed reports on the state of the U.S. economy.
The euro bought $1.2905 in late trading in New York, down from $1.2958 late Thursday. The British pound fell to $1.8807 from $1.8898. The dollar rose to 107.61 yen from 107.18 yen, 1.2033 Swiss francs from 1.1960, and 1.2156 Canadian dollars from 1.2092.
The dollar was lower earlier in the day as the Labor Department reported that U.S. payroll growth was sluggish in March, with employers adding just 110,000 jobs, the fewest since July.
