Revolution, Earthquakes Tie 2-2

(AP) - Taylor Twellman scored in the 73rd minute to help the New England Revolution tie the San Jose Earthquakes 2-2 in the season opener for both teams Saturday night.

Down 2-0 at halftime, Pat Noonan halved the deficit with a goal in the 52nd minute off a pass by Clint Dempsey.

Twellman tied it against a 10-man Earthquakes defense, three minutes after defender Eddie Robinson was given a red card for a reckless foul on Shalrie Joseph.
