NEW YORK (AP) - Embattled insurance giant American International Group Inc. said it has become aware of efforts to remove documents and information from its Bermuda building without the company's permission.
In a letter to shareholders issued Sunday, AIG said it immediately brought these incidents to the attention of the authorities, and said it has been cooperating with the New York Attorney General and the Securities and Exchange Commission with regard to document security in New York, Bermuda, Ireland and other locations.
As previously disclosed, the company fired Bermuda-based legal counsel Michael Murphy for failing to cooperate with AIG's review, and several other AIG employees in Bermuda have resigned.
