LONDON (AP) - HIT Entertainment PLC, the producer of the children's shows "Bob the Builder" and "Barney," said Monday that it has received two unsolicited approaches after accepting a takeover offer, signaling a potential bidding war could develop.
HIT, which last month recommended to its shareholders a 489 million pound ($917 million) offer from private equity firm Apax Partners, said that it has since received an approach from Lions Gate Entertainment, the Canadian film company behind "Fahrenheit 9/11" and "Open Water." HIT declined to name the company behind the third offer.
"Whilst HIT is investigating these approaches, their preliminary nature means that there can be no assurance that they will lead to a further offer for the company," HIT said in a regulatory statement to the London Stock Exchange.
