CHICAGO (AP) - Aon Corp. named consultant Gregory Case president and CEO Monday, turning to a low-profile outsider to oversee likely changes at the nation's No. 2 insurance brokerage now that investigations into its anticompetitive business practices have been settled.
Case, 42, most recently served as head of the financial services practice at the management consulting firm McKinsey & Co., where he worked for 17 years, and previously was an investment banker. He also now joins Aon's board of directors.
The hiring caps a lengthy selection process since outgoing chief executive Patrick Ryan said last Sept. 30 he intended to step down after more than 40 years as head of Aon and its predecessor. The 67-year-old Ryan will stay on as executive board chairman, although he emphasized to analysts that "Greg Case is now the boss at Aon."
