TOKYO (AP) - The dollar added to its recent gains in Tuesday morning trading in Asia as expectations for higher American interest rates continue to boost the currency.
The dollar was trading at 108.42 yen by late morning in Tokyo, up 0.16 yen from late Monday in Tokyo and above the 108.21 yen it bought in New York later that day. The euro slipped to $1.2827 Tuesday morning from $1.2897 late Monday and to 139.09 yen from 139.20 yen.
The pound fell to $1.8755 Monday from $1.8807 late Friday. The dollar rose to 1.2086 Swiss francs, up from 1.2033; and 1.2212 Canadian dollars, up from 1.2156.
